INTRODUCTION




 Hello everyone ! My name is Asmarisya Ayu Binti Malek .I am studying in a banking studies course. I’m glad that I have been chosen to be a part of University Teknologi MARA Machang. I hope that I can achieve what I want during my period of study here.This portfolio is created for the purpose of my study skill assignment under the subject of study skills (UED 102). In this portfolio, I will present notes from every topic that I have learned with the help of Madam Siti Aminah, who taught me during this subject . In part 1 of study skill that I have learned during my interim week, it has given me the expression of this subject is very helpful for me as a student to always be motivated and focus in studying so that I could reach what I wanted to achieve.

University life is different than school life. As a university students, we have to learn to be more responsible and know how to manage our life in university. It might be hard to do it at first but you have to get used to it if you want to be a successful student. There’re some differences of university and school life. For examples:

WHAT IS GOAL SETTING?

  • GOAL SETTING IS A PROCESS FOR THINKING ABOUT YOUR IDEAL FUTURE AND FOR MOTIVATING YOURSELF TO TURN THIS VISION OF THE FUTURE INTO REALITY .
  • THE PROCESS OF GOAL SETTING WILL HELP YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO IN LIFE .
  • PROPERLY TO SET GOALS CAN BE INCREDIBLY MOTIVATING AND AS YOU GET INTO THE HABIT OF SETTING AND ACHIEVING GOALS , YOU WILL FIND YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE BUILDS FAST .

  1. Long-term goals is the objective that you set end of the year for yourself for three or five years starting from now or even for a lifetime .

What is time management ?

Time management is the process of planning and exercising conscious control of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.

Ø Shows that you can prioritise task

Topic 4: Memory, Learning & Improving Concentration

 

What is memory?

Memory is the power or process of reproducing or recalling what has been learned and retained.


Type of memories :


1.    Sensory memory

- Sensory information is stored in sensory memory just long enough to be transferred to short term memory.Humans have five traditional senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch. Sensory memory (SM) allows individuals to retain impressions of sensory information after the original stimulus has ceased.National Training Laboratory, suggests that most students only remember about 10% of what they read from textbooks, but retain nearly 90% of what they learn through teaching others.So student must use all of their sensor when study because it is more effective than only use one of their sensor.

 


 

2.    Short-term memory

- Short term memory is  is the capacity for holding, but not manipulating, a small amount of information in mind in an active, readily available state for a short period of time. For example, short-term memory can be used to remember is believed to be in the order of seconds. 

 

3.    Long-term memory

- Long term memory consists of anything you remember that happened more than a few minutes ago. Long term memories can last for days or even years. The capacity of long term memory can be unlimited. It is a system of permanently storing, managing and retrieving information, which can be used later.

From the activities , I can momorize 10 words . But then I realize I can memorize easily if the items group by its types .

Concentration is the ability to think carefully about something you are doing .
